Mental Health Practicum Program

Our mental health practicum program is designed to equip students with the pre-professional competencies required to work in today’s demanding workforce. We train interns to walk out of our doors and into doors of community employers ready and trained to start working immediately!

The practicum program prepares students for positions as Mental Health Professionals and Administrative Executives in community, state, federal, and private social service agencies. Graduates will be equipped to provide services to an array of clients and sectors including children, adults, couples, and families, as well as employment, health, multicultural, gerontological, substance abuse, and/or child welfare systems.

Program & Descriptions

A. Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Health Education Interns:

Interns will perform direct services and administrative functions. Each intern will be assigned to work within the IFI Program or Wrap-Around Program. Interns will be assigned to a caseload. Interns will be supervised by licensed, Master-Level LPCs and LCSWs.

Hours:
  • Half-time or Full-time
  • Flexibility in terms of # of hours per week– at least 16 hours up to 40 hours.
  • Work hours are flexible
  • Must be available Tuesday evenings from 6:00pm – 8:00pm for treatment team meeting.

B. Business Administration Interns:

Interns will perform administrative duties relevant to daily business operations. Interns will be assigned to mental health-related lead special projects geared towards developing leadership abilities. Moreover, interns will have the opportunity to assess the agency’s current program and operations, create projects that interest them, and improve the quality of services delivery.

Hours:
  • Half-time or Full-time
  • Flexibility in terms of # of hours per week– at least 16 hours up to 40 hours.
  • Work hours are flexible
  • Must be available Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 6:30 pm
