Strengthening families through intensive support.

The Intensive Family Intervention (IFI) Program is designed to enhance family functioning by clinically stabilizing the living arrangement, facilitating reunification, or preventing the need for out-of-home therapeutic placements such as psychiatric hospitals or therapeutic foster care. Our team-based approach focuses on providing services primarily within the family system and the youth’s living environment.

Our services aim to achieve the following:

  • Crisis Intervention: We promptly address and diffuse the current behavioral health crisis while evaluating its nature, working to reduce the likelihood of future occurrences.
  • Linkage to Community Resources: We ensure that families are connected to vital community services and resources that can support their specific needs.
  • Empowerment and Skill-Building: We strive to improve the youth’s ability to recognize and manage their behavioral health challenges while enhancing the parents’ or responsible caregivers’ capacity to care for their children effectively

Our comprehensive range of services includes individual and family counseling, parenting skill-building, behavioral management training, social skill training, life skills training, vocational rehabilitation training, substance abuse therapy and screenings, crisis and relapse intervention, resource management, mentoring, and other rehabilitative supports.

To be eligible for our services, clients must be eligible Medicaid consumers. We are committed to providing tailored services based on a comprehensive assessment and directed towards addressing the youth’s behavioral health needs and goals, as identified in the Customized Treatment Plan.

Track 1: Prevent Placement Disruption

The goal of this track is to proactively prevent the need for out-of-home placement by addressing disruptive behavior in youth.

IFI services are designed to stabilize family situations where the safety of the youth and others in the home is not compromised. These services help mitigate the imminent risk of disruption or the youth entering foster care, adoption disruption, aftercare placement, or alternative placements such as wilderness camps, incarceration, or psychiatric hospitals.

Operating as a collaborative approach, the program involves the youth, placement relatives, representatives from DFCS/DJJ, court officials, and other stakeholders, ensuring a comprehensive support system.

Track 2: Reunification (DFCS/DJJ Custody Specialized Services)

This specialized track is specifically tailored to meet the unique needs of youth under the custody of DFCS and DJJ, supporting a smooth transition to the home of a relative.

IFI services offer immediate intervention to stabilize and effectively manage the youth’s behavior, facilitating their successful transition back to their family. Additionally, we work closely with the family to equip them with the necessary tools and preparation to effectively handle the youth’s return to their home.

Operating as a collaborative approach, our program engages the youth, placement relatives, representatives from DFCS/DJJ, court officials, and other stakeholders, ensuring comprehensive support and a coordinated effort towards positive outcomes.
