COMPREHENSIVE CHILD & FAMILY ASSESSMENT (CCFA)
We conduct family assessments for the Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS). In addition to the required components necessary to complete the assessment, the agency may implement additional assessment tools to better assess family members and their situation. The Comprehensive Child and Family Assessment (CCFA):
- Identifies key family members and individuals with close ties to the family unit
- Recognizes patterns of parental behavior, and family functioning patterns over time;
- Examines the family strengths and needs to identify resources that can support the family’s ability to meet its needs and better protect the children;
- Addresses the overall needs of the child and family that affect the safety, permanency, and well-being of the child;
- Considers contributing factors such as domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health, chronic health problems, education, poverty; and
- Incorporates information gathered through other assessments and focuses on the development of a service plan or plan for intervention with the family. The service plan addresses the major factors that affect safety, permanency, and child well-being over time.
At the end of the assessment, children and their families will receive appropriate services in preparation to have successful outcomes.
RELATIVE HOME EVALUATION
We conduct relative home evaluations to assist Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) in placing children with appropriate relatives.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ASSESSMENT
The Domestic Violence Assessment is a comprehensive risk assessment and treatment plan analysis for individuals experiencing physical or non-physical abuse or violence in their interpersonal relationships. Additionally, Domestic Violence Assessors perform service planning and safety planning for clients.
A. Offender Evaluation
Domestic Violence Assessors evaluate the offender’s violence (lethality) potential, assesses control issues, substance (drugs and alcohol) abuse, and stress coping abilities.
B. Victim Evaluation
Domestic Violence Assessors evaluate victims of physical and mental abuse. Several areas are assessed including: truthfulness, distress, morale Scale, self-esteem, resistance, suicide ideation, substance (drugs and alcohol) abuse and stress coping abilities. It screens victims of physical and mental abuse for problems, aftereffects and other issues.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE ASSESSMENT
An in-depth substance abuse assessment is conducted for clients identified as having significant substance abuse issues. Our staff has been trained to utilize numerous substance abuse assessment tools. The completed written assessment is forwarded to DFCS, DJJ or court for service recommendations.
Our staff also conducts substance abuse screening. Many of the clients are referred by DFCS, DJJ, or juvenile and adult court. Additionally, our staff conducts substance abuse assessments for pretrial inmates in the county jail.
In addition to the substance abuse assessment, we automatically collects a urine sample from the client and forward it to a laboratory for testing; results accompany written substance abuse assessment. The laboratory tests the specimen for the presence of:
- Cocaine
- Amphetamines
- Methamphetamines
- Barbiturates
- Benzodiazepines
- Opiates
- Marijuana
- Methodone
- Alcohol
- Prescriptive Medication
ANGER MANAGEMENT ASSESSMENT
Anger Management Assessment evaluates violent tendencies and patterns, daily behavior/functioning in family and interpersonal relationships, and substance abuse.
JUVENILE VIOLENCE EVALUATION
Juvenile Violence Evaluation focuses on violence patterns of youth. Additionally, this evaluation assesses relevant areas including the youth’s attitudes, feelings and behavior. The written evaluation summarizes several factors including violence, family and interpersonal relationships, explosives, weapons, and gang involvement.
